The Whisker Chronicles

Whiskers are also known as vibrissa, from the latin vibrare "to vibrate". Vibrissa are the specialized hairs on mammals and the bristlelike feathers near the mouths of many birds. Their resonant design is symbolic of the energies, good and bad, that are reverberating throughout the natural world. Every living thing is connected and, by birthright, deserves to exist.

1.  Read about the ten bird species considered to be most vulnerable according to Audubon, and about the efforts that will be required to rescue and rehabilitate any birds that survive exposure to the spill.

2.  Make a donation here.  No amount is too small.  It takes a lot of feet on the ground, hands on work of hundreds of volunteers to help wildlife during a catastrophe.  The labor may be mostly free thanks to volunteers, but supplies, transportation and equipment are not.  Skip your Starbucks today and give that five dollars to the rescue efforts.

This spill has occurred during peak bird migration and the area affected by the spill is an important region along the migratory flyway for multiple bird species.
